Billy Monk. A 1960s Cape Town legend whose black and white photographs of dockside nightlife reveal an underground South Africa, untouched by the division of apartheid. His own tragic story is equally as colourful.

"Billy Monk – Shot in the Dark is a celebration of a little-known slice of South Africa's history. Through Billy Monk's photographs and his own tragic story, I aim to shine a light on the many marginalised communities that existed in Cape Town in the late '60s. This is a film about Billy Monk but also about inclusion, joy and just having a good time, despite the situation." - Craig Cameron-Mackintosh (Director)
