White River Gallery by Halifax Art

Halifax Art was founded in 2011 as a visual arts agency to promote awareness of art, focussed on providing a first-time platform and springboard for emerging artists. After curating exhibitions at found venues, a permanent gallery was initiated in 2013 in Parkhurst Johannesburg. Halifax hosted numerous successful exhibitions from this space over 5 years. After relocating to Nelspruit in 2015, Halifax secured the White River Gallery as an exhibition space, with Dana MacFarlane as director and curator of the merged White River Gallery/Halifax Art business.

The gallery seeks to promote, uplift, and create awareness of South African artists to a wide

collector’s community. Viewing their role as educational and collaborative, the gallery strives for excellence in visualarts practise.
