Anthony Shapiro COLLECT
Anthony Shapiro has been involved in ceramics since the age of 13 where he started pottery lessons and never stopped. Not a day has gone by since, where this love affair clay has not been part of his daily life. Anthony has run various ceramic productions and has sold to the best stores locally and abroad. Anthony now has a studio on Harrington Street, Cape Town where he works from and runs a ceramic school where all levels of clay enthusiasts are welcome to sign up and attend classes.
There is an explosion of pottery world-wide now and many hip youngsters are becoming Instagram ceramic starts. French Vogue has headlined’ Pottery as the new yoga’ and an article in the NY Times has reported that studios in Brooklyn and NYC have quadrupled their equipment and simply can’t supply the demand for classes. There are long waiting lists of potential students at studios all over the city.
Cape Town is not dissimilar, and Anthony teaches 5 full classes a week and gets a constant chain of emails wanting classes. Anthony will be bringing a brand-new range of his own work to the RMB Turbine Art Fair 2018 which is fresh, pure and beautiful as well as a number of other ceramists whom he believes should be collected, hence the name Anthony Shapiro COLLECT.
The line-up this year includes two co- ops with Anthony and will be labeled as follows
